All about "Day 2"

The day started with staff getting together at 7:30 for prayer for the day. There was a prediction of 90% chance of rain after midnight the night before & we were very thankful that the Lord spared us from a downpour while everyone was sleeping. TYJ! Dark clouds were starting to gather & we prayed that the Lord would have his way with the weather.

At 8:00, which is the kids wake up time, it started to drizzle & then it started to pour!

It didn’t seem to bother the kids much. They enjoyed a breakfast of french toast & milk at the picnic tables which were placed under a tarped carport frame. It was one of those “have to try in at least once in your lifetime” camping experiences.

After breakfast we huddled under the back porch for fun inspiration & a skit led by Andrew & Crystal on the topic of the importance of taking “soldiering” seriously, it touched on manners, etiquette & sample. The kids had a blast & several of them got to dress up as soldiers & be part of the skit.

We shuttled the kids over to the mobile home (for class time) in a van to keep them dry. We had techinical difficulties with the classes, so while Tania & others worked on that, Anjie & Deb did the art project of the day with the kids ( dog tags with their names for OC’s & boys & a flower necklace for the MC girls). They had a snack of apples & nectarines.

Class started at about 11:00 with Tania leading, she did a super duper job! It was on the subject of Etiquette. Joan put together an awesome movie called " the Grubby gang kids" which the kids LOVED, there was also a great power point for the class. The kids were given their own notebooks to take notes & copy their key promise to memorize as well as the PnP question assigned to the OCs for their quiet time. At the end of class there were activity pages distributed for Quiet time.

Lunch was Yummy grilled cheese sandwhiches & tomatoe salad. We ate again under the canopy with the drizzle all about us.:)

For quiet time, those who had tents that were dry enough went to their tents & othes were dispersed around the houses with their team leaders. They did their activities & assignments, of course, none of the kids slept, ha.

By the afternoon, TYJ, the rain had stopped & though the ground was wet, that didn’t stop the kids from having a blast playing: football, taking the bacon & tag games, some went for a walk with their team leaders. Snack was graham crackers & milk.

By 5:30 the shower lines started. At 6:30 there was an delicious stir fry dinner, thanks to our wonderful cooks: Kelsey, Cryastal & Josue. At 7:00 started our evening activity. It was Pirate Night. Every one dressed up & Andrew had an awesome set up & lots of extra dress up clothing for the kids to use. He also led some really fun games & activities.

8:30 was a snack of peanut butter balls, yummy!! Then started the preparation for bedtime. We had to resituate those whose tents were still wet, but things flowed decently smoothly, PTL! Everyone was in place by 9:15, we allowed them to talk till the “lights out” time of 10:00 & then it was zzzzzzzzz……
